In the Interest of Clear Communication

Don't you hate it when people post on their blogs that they have a big announcement coming soon?  And they won't tell you what the big announcement is?  Yeah, I hate it too.  That's why I'm not going to do that
So I hope you'll forgive me for doing that.

Life has been pretty crazy lately, and I just haven't been able to figure out what to say about it all here.  So I haven't been posting at all.  It's like, I can't post and NOT mention the big thing.  But I can't write about the big thing just yet either.

So, in the meantime, let me just complain about a serious issue I'm having with one (or more?) of my co-workers either having some major misunderstanding about my job duties, or else just choosing to flat out LIE to others about my competence.  She's going around telling anyone who'll listen that I'm supposed to be doing X, Y, and Z, and I'm not doing it, and she's having to do it instead, and I'm a big slacker and lazy and blah, blah, blah.

I've heard things here and there, but this week was the final straw.  I heard several things in the span of a two-day meeting I had to attend.  And she actually said one thing to my face, in front of a bunch of the other people she's been whining to.  So, at least I had that opportunity to say to everyone involved, "You know, I don't know where you got the idea that I was supposed to do that, because no one has EVER told me that was my job.  In fact, the last time you implied to me that it was my job, I asked our boss if she wanted me doing that, and she told me in no uncertain terms, NO."

Blank stares all around.

But it's still bugging me. And I think I'm going to have to approach my boss about the whole situation Monday.  I'm not pointing fingers.  It's just that I would appreciate some clear communication, and if she DOES want me doing X, Y, and Z, she needs to freakin' tell ME.  And if she doesn't want me doing X, Y, and Z, I'd like her to tell everyone else!

And I hate confrontation.  So I've been dreading the conversation all weekend.  I hope you'll all wish me luck.

As for Miss Gossip Girl, to further add to my annoyance, this person is really big into her "Twelve Step Groups."  And she talks about it all constantly.  And I have some personal experience with these things, so I'd really like to point out to her that A.  They are called....ANONYMOUS for a reason.  Perhaps she shouldn't be spouting off all about her meetings all the time.  And B.  Really?  The way she acts, clearly she has decided that about 7 "steps" do not apply to her.

I'm just sayin'.

6 people had stuff to say about this:

Well...I can understand having a big announcement and not saying what it is. While we wait for when you CAN tell us, I hope that it's a good announcement and that you & R are happy!

Don't you wish you could just push certain people at work off a cliff?! Yeah. Me too.

Good luck with the chat with your boss. While never fun, it is important...
